As we go on throughout the year, the covid virus seems like it is here to stay. The longer it affects the earth, then we discover more and more about it. Now it has been reported that a small number of individuals are experiencing severe Psychotic symptoms. All patients never had any pre-existing mental issues but have all suffered from covid—some with little to no signs and some with severe.
One of the patients reported Is a 42-year-old mother of four who worked as a physical therapist. She had never experienced psychiatric symptoms, nor did she have any family history of mental illness. Yet she was crying to a therapist; expressing her troubling thoughts with her seeing her children being murdered and that she had impure thoughts that go as far as plans to kill them. The few sufferers affected by this have been between the ages of 30 – 40.
A few of the post-Covid patients who developed psychosis needed weeks of hospitalization. During the medical stay, doctors tried a variety of different medications before finding the one that reduced symptoms. Dr. Robert Yolken who is a neurology expert at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, expressed that people might recover physically from the virus and their immune system may have trouble shutting down to clear the “delayed clearance of a small amount of virus.”
