Before you can GLOW you have to GROW.. and in order to grow you must be properly rooted and watered… in YOURSELF. Which brings us to this week’s topic..

SELF AWARENESS

Self-awareness can be defined as our ability to be conscious of our own character, feelings, motives, and desires. It gets deeper than merely learning more about yourself though.. It is also about paying attention to our inner state with an open heart and mind.

In a sense, self-awareness is simply self-control.

Have you ever been having a conversation with a friend and you see their mouth moving but you aren’t hearing a word coming out of their mouth because you’re lost in your own thoughts? Or maybe you have thoughts moving through your head so often and so fast that you can’t even sleep at night. Both signs of limited self-awareness and I am SOOOO guilty of this.
Believe it or not, many psychologists found that almost half of the time we operate on “autopilot”. Which means that we are unconscious of what we are doing and how we feel and our mind is constantly wandering. We aren’t living in the present moment because we are too worried about the future.

But, In order to glow up the REAL, YOU has to show up…

and by that, I mean you in this PRESENT MOMENT with your current thoughts and feelings. If you don’t know who you are and you aren’t learning, who are you imitating? God created us all with UNIQUE traits, talents, and characteristics that set us apart. If you want to fulfill your purpose in life you must first connect with YOURSELF.
Becoming more self-aware is very important because it allows us to live in the present moment and be conscious of our needs while monitoring our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors from moment to moment. It is can be viewed as an evaluation of yourself conducted by yourself that compares our current behavior with our internal values.

How do you know if you’re self-aware you ask?

People who are self-aware tend to act more consciously than passively and have a positive outlook on life. They have better life experiences and are compassionate to themselves and others. By acknowledging how we feel on the inside we recognize and accept our emotions as normal HUMAN behavior as opposed to beating ourselves up about it and placing ourselves in bad psychological health. EVERYBODY HAS FEELINGS. PERIOD.
As humans, we may never understand ourselves but the journey of learning, understanding and exploring ourselves makes it all worth it.
I’m glad that you asked. Before you can become more self-aware you have to know how self-aware you are at this PRESENT MOMENT.

I would love to hear from my audience so, consider these questions:

Are you self-aware?
Do you acknowledge self-awareness in your personal and professional life?
