What does Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon all have in common? They are all set to participate in the Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief Telethon set to air on ABC, CBS, CMT, FOX and NBC on September 12 at 8pm. The telethon will benefit those that were part of the recent destruction that Hurricane Harvey caused in Houston.
Rapper Bun B, who is a Houston native teamed up with Scooter Braun for the Hand in Hand event. Stages will be set up in LA, NYC, and Nashville to aid in raising money for the United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity and host of other organizations in the Houston area.
The telethon will end with a performance by Country singer, George Strait live from his Harvey Relief Concert in San Antonio. Tickets for his concert went on sale Wed Sept 6 at 10:00am and sold out in less than 20 minutes. The event will also be streamed on both Facebook and Twitter beginning at 8pm.
It is projected that Hurricane Harvey damages are adding up to about $180 billion. There is approx. 200,000 homes destroyed leaving many displaced, and a total of 50 fatalities.
