Recently, Our Periods Matter kicked off the season with its first pack party of the year. Just to give you a little background, Our Periods Matter is a community organization that is dedicated to “stopping the period stigma one pack party at a time” The group works to service homeless women in NYC, Philly, ATL & Miami. They have high hopes of extending this network nationwide. The Miami Ambassador happens to be my sister in hustle, affectionately called Nuee. When I heard she was setting up a local pack party to prepare hygiene kits for homeless women, I knew I had to fall through and support. During the pack party, bags are decorated with a personal touch and filled with travel size items along with pads, tampons and panty liners. Ideally we try to fill the bags with enough items to last throughout an entire cycle. This month’s pack party was held in Wynwood at DrSmood. If you haven’t been before I encourage you to stop by. The spot is nice and cozy with healthy food and smoothies. After packing everything that was donated, the bags were donated to a local women’s shelter. If you missed this month’s event don’t worry!
