So far October has been a great month for music lovers. October 12, Ella Mae released her much anticipated self titled debut LP: Ella Mae, Quavo released his first solo project, Usher dropped some heat, and Shy Glizzy surprised me with his album Fully Loaded. It’s safe to say that each of these artist gave music lovers what they needed.
I’m a 90s girls, so I was super hyped when I heard that Usher released the 8 track album “A”. The entire album gave that 90’s Atlanta vibe and had me dancing from start to finish. Usher released the surprise album just days before his 40th birthday.
Another Atlanta artist, Quavo dropped his solo project “Quavo Huncho” which is projected to sale about 110k copies its debut week. All the buzz has been about his track “Huncho Dreams” that he released. Quavo, who was mentioned in Nicki Minaj’s Barbie Dreams claims he bagged the queen and she wants to marry him. At the end of the song he does some what apologize before referencing her ex Safari. Quavo’s album okay, however I like the Migos as a group better. So far his record sales are much lower as a solo artist than his last album with Migos.
Ella Mai is who we all were highly waiting to drop her debut self titled album. She gave us hits like Boo’d Up and Tripping so we already knew what she was bringing to the table. I must say she definitely delivered. Her entire album is straight fire from start to finish. She did it for the ladies! The English singer has caught a lot of heat after reportedly her label had removed Jacquees version of Trippin from major platforms (he did sing it like it was his and made a video smh, but thats another story), and she blocking him on social media. Her album is definitely worth the listen, she even sampled Adina Howard’s “T-shirt and Panties”.
We can’t forget we finally got Carter IV from Wayne,Kevin Gates dropped some heat, and TI is BACK!! October has been to good to us. If you haven’t heard these albums go ahead and add them to your playlist you won’t be disappointed. Its a nice balance between making you fall in love, and making you think you’re the trapper of the year.
