MCL Media was founded in 2010 and launched as a lifestyle and entertainment company that specialized in talent management and brand development. For the first few years, the company represented several notable brands in music & entertainment, including Miami’s most successful music label, Slip-N-Slide Records and Monami Entertainment, the offspring of famed Music/TV executive Mona Scott-Young after her departure from Violator Management. There, founder Maricarmen “MC” Lopez has worked with the likes of Trina, Rick Ross, Jagged Edge, Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes, as well as a handful of independent artists and personalities.
Since 2015, MCL Media has been operating as an independent production company. From VH1’s mega-hit multi-series franchise Love & Hip Hop, to the groundbreaking Out in Hip Hop, an insider look at homophobia in hip hop…from the Care4Haiti campaign with Melky Jean, to #MeToo’s collaborative project alongside VH1…MCL Media captures and relates incredible and unique stories and characters that entertain and impact. Since the company’s relaunch, MCL Media has produced cable programming and digital work for top networks and streaming giants including: VH1, MTV, WEtv, Complex Network, Facebook Watch, Netflix and has co-developed projects with select production companies. MC has produced hundreds of hours of award-winning and top-rated programming in the unscripted, reality and lifestyle space.
