I have had my eye on Ciara since she burst on to the music scene with Goodies in 2004! Over the years she has remained in the public eye as we unapologetically leaned in to her private life. We saw her at her most vulnerable, then witnessed her evolution into the super mompreneur and wife we admire today.
Her latest studio album Beauty Marks was just released and it is a gem! This collection of 11 songs are truly uplifting and can easily be dubbed as daily mantras. Ciara stated “The best thing I could do for me is love myself”, then the music poured in and she began to give us a recap of broken love and learning to love her self. Macklemore is also featured on this track and adds his pizazz to the song referencing self love and being able to share that love effectively.
The pace changed quickly as a count down was heard and her hit single Level Up began to play. There are a few more feel good dance tracks on there such as Thinking Bout You and Freak Me (feat. Tekno). Dose is another dance joint brining you that authentic HBCU band vibe accompanied with that signature sound from super producer Darkchild.
CiCi teamed up with Kelly Rowland to bring us Girl Gang as the duo head out for an epic girls night reminding us that they STILL GOT IT. Don’t worry, there are also some nice slow and sexy jams on there like Greatest Love and Trust Myself. Vibe out with tracks like Set and keep it steamy wit Na Na.
There is no fluff with this album, no unnecessary skits, just great music and relatable content. The track listing for the album was cleverly curated and tells an engaging story from beginning to end. From what most would consider a broken situation to a fairy tale ending, Beauty Marks can be considered a a memoir of the most publicized moments of Ciara’s life. If you’re looking to dance, reflect, or simply sing out loud like no one is listening, this album is for you!
Check out the visual for the title track Beauty Marks directed by Ciara herself. The video shares intimate moments in her life to include her wedding day, birth of her daughter Sienna, and appearances by Baby Future and hubby Russell Wilson.
