When we speak of starting a business, we often speak of the excitement, the freedom, and the happy ending. We tend to sweep the long nights, the frustration and the tears we’ve had to cry under the rug. During the Boss Women Branding & Empowerment Brunch, the conversation got very honest & raw about what it really means to be an entrepreneur.  The topic was long overdue and the ladies both in the audience and on the panel did not hold back as they discussed the struggles they have faced and are still enduring on their journey as female bosses.

Imagine a room full of women although walking different paths overall working towards a common goal; SUCCESS. On Saturday, September 28th Farrah followed what God put on her heart and carried out the task of bringing a panel of women together to speak and give knowledge about what it means to be an entrepreneur.  The day began with something us ladies love to do SHOP & mingle. There were vendors present with just about any product you would want all in one place. Crème de la Crème was there with cute clothing items in all sizes.  Embrace ya curlz had the cutest tees celebrating natural hair. All Things Beau-tees also had t-shirts with the cutest sayings to show your boss personality.  It didn’t matter if you’re natural, wear a weave, or have chemically treated hair, Hair Ecstasy had a little something for everyone. I even walked away with some goodies for my hair and a super cute tee from the glam boss herself. “Curls” was also in the building with amazing hair products. Each participant walked away with two FULL SIZE products which included a blueberry twist and shout cream that smells good enough to eat. The Whiskey Chic kept the music flowing throughout the evening. What’s better than a female DJ? Almost nothing!

Before jumping into the deep stuff we started with PRAYER. The panel was broke down into two section, Empowerment & Branding. The Empowerment speakers were Joyce Poliard, Melyssa Guiteierez,  Anna Williams & Lola Chel. The ladies spoke on pouring from an empty cup, how discouraging it is when women don’t support each other and how sometimes our own families don’t see our vision. These topics were important because becoming an entrepreneur can uncover some harsh realities. The Branding & Starting a Business Panel consisted of Tinisha jones, Claudine Filsaime, Siobhan Nicole, &Tinisha Simpkinst. This portion touched on the basics of starting a business.  Educating yourself and following through with basic steps like starting a LLC are often overlooked. Sadly this can be costly in the end. Farrah narrated both panels and directed the flow of conversation with questions to each panelist. The ladies gave their opinions and shared tips on starting a business with no money as well starting a business while working a 9-5 or caring for children at the same time. I think everyone including myself walked away feeling inspired and renewed. It’s always good to know other people have experienced some of the same things you have. Don’t forget to follow the  Farrah who is a business owner registered nurse and mother on IG @bisou_dame so you won’t miss another great event!
