Art Basel is a for-profit, privately owned and managed international art fair staged annually in Basel, Switzerland, Miami Beach, Florida, and Hong Kong, selling established and emerging artists. Being on Miami Beach is cool, but the locals however know that the real fun goes down in Wynwood. Contrary to popular belief the urban population in Miami also takes major interest in art and many of them are also talented artists. The Pretty Hustle Team took to the streets this weekend to check out what Miami Art Week had to offer.

Tuesday, December 4th served as the pre-kick off. We found ourselves partying in style at an exclusive roof top party held at X Miami Apts located in Downtown Miami. The party was thrown by LA party. Other sponsors also included Revolution Radio, Creative Glue & DeepTalk. These amazing brands joined together to create the first ever all women-based event during Art Basel. There were a lot of Miami’s top female companies, artist & leaders in attendance.

Midweek the fun was well underway!! Miami Soundwave threw an event so dope we had to give it it’s OWN post check out the full details here. https://prettyhustlaz.com/miami-soundwave-art-basel-2018/  The event was sponsored by Fire Grabba and performances by Lagooney Chonga,Pilly Mae & The City Girls all made for a helluva night.

Thursday, Patron x Complex linked to bring us ” In the Spirit”  and all we can say is it was a movie! What else can be expected when there’s FREE patron!!!  We can always count on Lex Promotions to bring us something DOPE! Music + Art and an open bar equals perfection! Attendees also walked away with a personalized TShirt! Not to mention several visits to the Patron cart! This was definitely a highlight of the week!

On Friday, the pretty Hustle Team learned that things will not always go as planned in all honesty we missed the Revolt House event (Whomp, Whomp) although we were super disappointed about missing Teyana Taylor, it didn’t stop us from enjoying what Wynwood had to offer. We stopped by “The Hive” it had all day and all night access for people to swarm in at any time they see fit. This spot also served as a culinary village complete with handcrafted cocktails. We took the time to mix and mingle with people out on the street and in town for the weekend.

By Saturday we were EXHAUSTED! But we knew it was our duty to bring you coverage all week so we made sure to PUSH THRU! We rested ALL Day but we picked up by checking out the “Walk Fashion Show” which was held at the Little Haiti Cultural Art Complex. This event celebrated independent designers. We couldn’t let the week go by without adding fashion into the mix! We ended the night by checking out the Slip and Slide Pop Up Shop! It was amazing to see All of Slip & Slide’s History in one place! Let’s not forget complimentary drinks were here as well.

The week had so many planned events we thought it was important to just go where the wind blew us on Sunday. We were not going to let the week end without checking out “The Sum of My Heart” by Sue Tai. Many of you may know this talented artist from her work on Wale’s cover art. Her pop up for Art Basel included a pop up shop to purchase prints, a coloring bar and a lounge!

Pretty Hustlaz had a ball this week! If you didn’t attend this year PLEASE make plans to indulge next year! The experience was unexplainable and many of the things we attended were free of charge. What was your favorite part of Art Basel this year? Sound off below
