Nicki Minaj makes it known that she isn’t here for the culture vulture that most of the urban-ites feels popular culture has stolen from them. Started with the larger fake lips, then moved to the braids and beads, to clothing to whatever your personal vendetta feels they have stolen.
The case being, Nicki took a moment from her NYFW set to congratulate the show designer Phillip Plein for having urban influencers at and in a show that featured fashion from urban culture.
“Thank you, Philipp Plein, for including our culture… Designers get really big and really rich off of our culture, and then you don’t see a motherfucker that look anything like us in the front row half the time. So let’s make some noise for Philipp Plein tonight.”
Minaj made her statement plain and clear in front of a star studded front row with the likings of 50 Cent, Paris Hilton, Bella Thorne, and Fifth Harmony.
Nicki Minaj was the queen of the stage but she was joined by Rae Sremmurd, 21 Savage, and Yo Gotti as well. Take a look at part of the performance below.
