Mama Tina is always out here in her crowning glory dropping gems at any given moment! In a recent interview that she did with Maria Shriver, she shed some light on her parenting journey. When Beyoncé was growing up she had issues dealing with her younger sister Solange. Of course, typical older/younger sister antics, except your sister is Beyoncé! Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions, especially since at this point where she was already famous where they lived.

Tina admitted to taking her daughters to counseling to make sure that Beyoncé was able to manage her emotions towards her sister appropriately. On Wednesdays, Tina dedicated that time for Solange to make sure that she felt special and spent time with her. Fast-forward to now, the sisters appear to have kept that loving relationship intact after all of these years. I mean the world saw what Solange did to Jay Z in that elevator for her sister, and I’m willing to bet she would do the same— a bit more tactfully of course. Thats enough proof for me!

In all seriousness, for those of you that didn’t know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This month should be used to expand your horizons and evaluate your mental health and the health of those around you. Often, more times than not, we seem to look past things and not discuss them because we are uninformed. The stigma surrounding mental health is toxic to the individuals that suffer from it and prevents them from seeking the care that they so desperately need. We always think that therapy and counseling isn’t for “us”, but it may be the key to a mentally healthy and happy life.

Being physically healthy is great, but we still continue to neglect our mental health. Taking the time out to decompress, go to counseling, or just seeking further information can help alleviate some of your daily woes.
