The Hair Goddess Happy Hour Beauty Mixer is an event all of our Hustlaz should be familiar with if you follow our social media and frequent our site. (Check out the previous beauty mixers here: https://prettyhustlaz.com/sunday-funday-w-hair-goddess-boutiques-happy-hour-beauty-mixer/  & https://prettyhustlaz.com/mixing-business-with-pleasure-at-hair-goddess-boutiques-happy-hour-mixer/ ) It’s a monthly event where happy hour meets beauty, business and networking. Business owners from all walks of life come together to network, learn, shop, and trade ideas. Sometimes, monthly events can get repetitive. After all the purpose continues to remains the same each time.  Luckily, Hair Goddess Boutique has managed to make sure each mixer is bigger, and better with more to offer each month.

This month’s mixer was held at Atlantis University. More importantly all proceeds from all of the raffles went to Susan G Komen Miami/Ft Lauderdale in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The bigger venue allowed for vender to set up stations with more products on display. There were also new vendors in attendance this go around. With that being said, some things did remain the same and with very good reason! Unique Drinks Miami provided us with wine with a special Unique Drinks twist all evening.Music was provided by DJ VNKNWN. The food which was gone by the end of the evening was provided by Pretty Healthy as usual. Just like previous events, great prizes were raffled off including beauty services, makeup, jewelry, customized items and even a trip to the Bahamas! Now think back to what free event has offered such amazing prizes to its attendees.  Don’t worry, I’ll wait!

After networking, raffles, shopping, and laughs, the keynote speaker was announced. Tamara B Rodriguez is a breast cancer survivor. I found her story to be unique because her case was opposite of many other cases.  Tamara had no family history of breast cancer as well as she was diagnosed at 35. For those who are unaware, insurance does not pay for a mammogram for women under the age of 35. After feeling a lump in her breast, she was adamant about getting a mammogram even if the Dr. told her she had nothing to worry about. Her persistence paid off, a tumor was removed that contained a very aggressive cancer. Since there was a chance that the cancer may come back the next step was chemotherapy treatment. In the mist of everything, Tamara thought about her children first. She begin to think of ways to explain to them the changes she was about to go through. After realizing there were no books for this type of thing, she did something amazing. She wrote a children’s book to help explain cancer to children. Since chemotherapy would cause hair loss she wanted her children to understand and not be afraid. She also drove home the message that hair does not equal beauty. Something I think we all need to understand.

The evening was brought to an end as Ola, The owner of Hair Goddess Boutique and the Event Coordinator spoke to the crowd about purpose. The business you all have started is bigger than you she told the crowd, just like mine is bigger than me. This month’s Happy Hour Beauty Mixer was truly an inspiration.
