We know the importance of representation, so a Black Disney Princess was a huge thing for people of color. Princess Tiana became a staple for many young girls and women. Much to everyone’s surprise, they were shocked to see how different the Black Princess Tiana appeared in the Wreck It Ralph 2 trailer. Tiana appeared lighter in complexion and her features were different.
For those of you that didn’t know, Anika Noni Rose is the actress that plays the character Tiana. During the original creation of the movie she worked with the artist to ensure her features were well represented. The change in the appearance of the princess called for immediate action. After numerous complaints and a meeting with Rose, Disney has restored the Princess to her original likeness.
