Miami is one of the most diverse cities in the nation. It is a true melting pot because just about every nationality and culture is represented here. With that being said, it’s only right for it to be the home of the International Music Festival. The event was spearheaded by Councilman Erhabor Ighodaro with the purpose of celebrating the diversity of the city. On Saturday August 04, 2018, music lovers from the Caribbean, Latin America, and African Disapora, poured into the Betty T Ferguson Complex center ready to enjoy a night of fun. This family friendly event even had free admission for children under 12. There were a number of DJs to keep the crowd going and the hosts were Miami’s own Big Lip Bandit and Jill Tracy. They did their job of keeping the crowd entertained in between acts, even if it meant turning into the sandman for an artist that used profanity (lol). If you left home hungry, the venue had you covered with a number of food trucks. Raggae Beets Gourmet Food Truck definitely gets and honorable mention for some of the best lemonade we’ve had in a while. There were even opportunities for shopping providing a one stop shop experience for those who attended. Of course, The music was the highlight of the night. We got the chance to listen to new music from Prince of Love & Hip Hop Miami. Performances included a number of local performers as well as Polanca Pop, Ezo, Yohan Marley and the 2018 headliner Amara La Negra of Love & Hip Hop Miami. This performance was extra special because Amara is also a resident of Miami Gardens. She held nothing back as she performed in her own backyard. The night did bring rain, but that did not stop the show from going on. It was truly a night to remember and we cannot wait to see what 2019 will bring!
